I HATE IT !

What do I hate the most right now? Netscape Navigator/Communicator.
Now? Care to be more specific? 25/3/1998

Overview: Right now, I am sitting in front of my computer after spending 5 hours trying to figure out why my homepage looks so different/ugly if browsed with Netscape's browser. I am growing *very* tired of trying to understand how the html 'standards' are implemented in the two most popular browsers (Explorer / Communicator) and I think it is time for some serious ranting.

Do you have a homepage? If you do have one and it's a little bit complicated (eg. uses tables, dynamic html etc) then you already know that they don't look quite the same with IE and NC. I have no idea who is responsible for screwing up the 'standards' -Microsoft or Netscape-, but I believe this is getting *too* annoying for everyone trying to build a decent page. Professional or amateur. This could have been a ranting about the standards instead of blaming Netscape for this confusion, but the truth is I only have trouble when using Communicator to view my homepage. It seems Explorer is more forgiving (when an html-mistake does exist) or maybe I am just used to this browser and used to coding for it. I don't know...

What I *do* know however, is that I spend more time 'tweaking' my pages for viewing with the Communicator than for coding the page itself. This is just unacceptable. The best solution -for us- would be to make these two boneheaded companies sit down and work this problem out, but if this solution isn't possible the next best thing -for me at least- would be to just get rid of the second browser. Yeap, that's right... good God has heard my prayers -which doesn't happen very often- and Microsoft integrated its browser in Windows 98. Good, one browser means one standard.

Present Consequences: As I said, I am sick and tired of trying to "have it both ways" -my homepage looking best with both browsers-, so I am giving up Communicator. Some pages will appear ugly -when in fact they aren't- some may not show up at all -yes this is also possible-, but I simply don't care anymore. Windows 98 will settle this dispute once and for all.

Of course Netscape is not the only thing in this world that irritates me. I also hate Panagiotis Giannakis, the great(?!?) coach of the Greek National Basketball team (26/11/1997), who has done everything in his power to completely humiliate us.
